Miguel Ángel Poveda León

Born in Barcelona in 1973

In 2007, he received the National Prize of Music for his great quality as an interpreter. When he was fifteen years old, he started to sing in the “Peñas Flamencas” environment.

In 1993, after winning four prizes including the “Lámpara Minera” (one of the most prestigious Flamenco prizes) in the national contest of sing, “Cante de las Minas” in La Unión (Murcia-Spain), he started his professional career.

He has also participated in the most important national and international music festivals and has sung in prestigious places as the Théâtre Odéon (Paris), the Liceo (Barcelona), the Teatro Real (Madrid), the Carnegie Hall (NY), the Lincoln Center (NY), the Auditorio Parco della Música (Rome), the Sadler’s Wells (London), etc…

He has collaborated with such artists as Santiago Auserón, Enrique Morente, Israel Galván, Eva Yerbabuena, Matilde Coral, Giovanni Hidalgo, Martirio, Rodolfo Mederos, Tomatito, Antonio Carmona, Maria del Mar Bonet, Pasión Vega, Mariza and others.

Miguel Poveda has also participated in different movies with Bigas Luna (La Teta y la Luna), Carlos Saura (Fados and Flamenco, flamenco), French director Nicolas Klotz (La question humaine) and also with Pedro Almodóvar (Los abrazos rotos).

Until today, he has recorded eight albums. The last one, Coplas del querer, a double CD where he makes a tribute to this Spanish popular music, the copla.
